What strikes me most about this whisky is how surprisingly easy-drinking it is given the ABV. The flavor is mainly of light caramels and honey, with gentle spices (bay leaves notably)... yet it's not that light, as the cask strength amps all that up into full-fledged power and tastyness. Finish is long with a little pepper entering. B/B+
Frosting and bananas. Lots of oooomph. Tasty. (A bit short on actual notes here, but I liked this a lot. Enough I'll probably buy a bottle and do some better notes.)
Buttered cornmeal with a peppery finish. The flavors are a bit too faint when compared with the actual alcohol. Not bad, but I doubt I'll see it on my shelf.
n: Golden honeyed malt, warm wheat fields, cantaloupe melon. Orange wax on oak-wood furniture; a solid nose.
t: Dry honeycomb on a graham cracker, dry wood and leather. A hint of black peppercorn, walnut, and golden raisins in the sweet middle. Strong warming malt + spice, honeysuckle (floral), and caramel in the finish. Surprisingly easy to drink for it's higher ABV.
This is the best bang-for-your-buck Glenlivet you can get.
