My favorite Longrow to date!  This one has some really nice sherry components along with the clasic Springbank falvors matched with that light peatiness that Longrow does.  I think the light peat added to the Springbank clasic has been well integrated with the Sherry and bourbon vatting.  The Sherry adds some of the missing fruitiness that I love in other malts.

The smoke and caramel is there along with a nice cinnamon background and the peaty palate but then add the raisins and the cherries and the darker/deeper woody notes and it makes for a nice combo malt.  If this was aged for another say....10 years, I think it will make it into the A-/A category....until then it will reside as a B+.

Nose is sea brine, light white peat, lime? Palate is salty, peaty, turns to bitter cola nut., medium body.  Finish is OK.  Salty.  Good stuff.

This nose is very farm yardy.  Lots of dry hay and grass.  But theres a fair bit of peat smoke and lighter notes of pineapple.  Its light and resfreshing on taste with fruits and sherry.  It ends with a bit of mustiness that I didnt care for.

n: Green wet grass, smoke, and pickle juice/brine. Past that a little clover and cocoa powder.

t: Initial is smoked wet grass and white pepper spice. The sweetness and fruit comes out midway through and work well with the peat as it moves to a bit of salt and tangerine. A slightly sour and mineral aspect in the burnt paper finish.

A more peat-smoked Springbank and interesting in that it's not at all phenolic.

n:  Summer sea breeze

p:  Odd.  Little bit of soap and salt.  Dirty carpet.
