N: Bright apple, sets expectations of a punchy fruity whisky.
P: Fruity, some briny peat notes coming through. [My original notes also indicated "Sweaty stripper nipple" on the palate, but with limited experience in that tasting arena I cannot confirm.]
F: Salty and tangy.

Older notes:

N: Ethery and fragrant, vanilla, butter, and hay.
P: Salty, almonds, vanilla.  Light and dry, with...
F: Sweetness emerging in the finish, which is kinda hot and slightly off.  B-

It's always fun when I sit down to enter a "new" whiskey and realize that it's already on the site, and that I have notes on it.

This time around I liked it noticeably more. Grapefruit, apple, lychee, eucalyptus, and a nice contrast to the 12 year old I tasted prior to it. Really good and drinkable, would be a good party whisky. B/B+

Old Notes:
Nose is grassy, with white wine, slight solvents.  Fruity.  Palate is sweet and clean, with sharp, apple-y fruitiness, and spice -- sort of a cinnamon-apples background.  Slightly oaky.  The finish is medium length, somewhat drying, and grows a little bitter and peppery.  This is decent stuff that's sort of lighter-flavored and interestingly-spiced without losing oomph.  But it's too drying and bitter to be better.  B-

Nose:  Fruity malt notes with some brandy and sweet white wine notes.

Palate:  See nose.  Sweet malt with some fruit flavors, though a bit less fruity than the nose.

Finish:  Guess what?  Sweet malt.

Straightforward but well done with more depth than some of the other basic malty numbers out there.

N: Oily, honey, caramel, vanilla and dry hay

P: Big minty/ eucalyptus notes,  apples, wax and bits of smoke

F: Light finish with spices and a bit of rubber

Retaste 2013 against the current 2 versions of Springbank 15

Olive oil, chalk board, pears and apple.  Metallic flower water. Mineralic and a tinge of soap.  This was the best of the SB 15's

Thin mouthfeel and kind of dry.  C+/B-

N: Dirty laundry, musty, moldy shirt. After some passing moments: Fruit, like apples come through.

P: Gets better the more I drink it, but doesn't have a very complex character. Kinda boring.

F: Strong - much more than initial palate.
