Perhaps it's unfair to taste this sandwiched between two glasses of Highland Park 18, but it really just doesn't compare.  There were defintely some good things in there, but also a couple odd notes (vinegar?) that I couldn't quite identify.

Nose is light honey comb cereal.  The palate is butter and vanilla with a little mint. The finish is clean and short.  Good light aperitif.

N: Moderately briny, malty, with notes of hay and grain and a faint bit of peat; faintly floral.

P: Rich, syrupy, oily mouthfeel; gently warming and malt, green grass, lightly dusty with a hint of white pepper.

F: Slow, gentle, lingering with the whiff of (really faint) peat and malt coming back; some grain.

Not a big whisky - mild, gentle, malty, and relaxing. It's enjoyable for what it is but it doesn't leave a lasting impression.
