Very sugary, almost cognac like nose, full of distilled fruits.  Mild and fruity, very enjoyable and then it just falls apart in the finish.  Blechy.

Nose is light, with vanilla, and a faint paint thinner background.  Palate is kind of a plain-bourbony mild flavor.  Finish is medium-long and turns mainly into alcoholic remnants.  It's that finish which taints the experience and makes me not want much more.  C

RETASTE: (2012 bottling) Tthe extra strength here does appeal more to me and this is decent enough. That extra alcohol also increases the alcoholy flavors as much as it does the other stuff, so... anyhow I like it in a "fine" way, and more than I did the last tiem I spent time with this a few years ago.  C+

Ries

n: white sugar glaze, almost a bit of a tropical floral note. Almonds, red vines, very hot on the alcohol vapors.

t: similar to nose, initial is sweet with vanilla sugar, that goes into sharper alcohol notes. Some dry spice of black pepper and cinnamon with charcoal. Middle has a sorghum sweetness, honey graham cracker and a hint of maple wood. Finish is caramel corn and paper pulp. Wild Turkey 101 isn’t fancy, nor should it be. This is a fine whiskey on the value scale!

N: Lots of dry oak and wood. Vanilla, spice and wheat

P:Predominantly oak and vanilla. Medium length finish is waxy and bitter. C/C+ (2021 bottling)
