N: Very bright nose with a distinct apple pie aroma. P: Dry with white wine and green apples dominating. F: Short but clean, with apple Jolly rancher as the lingering taste. Actually quite enjoyable, a decent go-to when you're at one of those bars/restaurants with very limited selection. This is one of those single malts I initially passed over but the more often I try it the more I am impressed.
Big bubblegum nose, with honey and chardonnay. Palate is very smooth, mild, and sweet -- floral, malty, and quite fruity with light spice. The strong fruitiness is what grabs me most here, and there's not a lot else to shout about, but it's still tasty and good with no distinct flaws to note. Some roughness in the finish keeps this from edging up to a full B-. But it's a good as an all-purpose I-just-want-a-Scotch Scotch. C+/B-
The nose is slight, with lemon cake. The palate is sweet with some sugar. The finish brings out a little wood. Better as an aperitif, or afternoon malt. Very light and delicate.
Glenlivit 12 was the first single malt I ever had. It was years before I bothered with another. It still makes my nostrils curl violently. Go for a blend with your $20. Good for a prank on an enemy.
Better than the Fiddich 12 but not a whole lot. I like the bubblegum sherry notes even though there really isn't much (if any) sherry in it. However, I always wonder why I would bother with the 12 when the 18 is not much pricier but certainly better.
Lots of fruits and gummy sweetness. But it seems kind of artificial. Its not as good as the older bottlings of livet 12 which tend to be more malty and even have whiffs of peat.
n: light nose of honeysuckle, dried tropical fruit mix, and pink bubblegum. White wine nose - like Gewürztraminer.
t: taste is even lighter and very mild. Mostly thin malt, grassy heather and has a young edge to it that gives it the sweetness that carries throughout. Some green apple juice & orange wax but not much else to discern as it fades away quickly.
This is a staple of any bar. It's a standard, so it serves as a great calibrator. [C.]
Light yellow-orange color. Nose is flogral and light, earthy and full of apples. The palate is slightly bitter and earthy. I don't like the aftertaste this dram leaves.
