Kentucky Bourbon Distillers does not actually distill any whiskey, they purchase bulk whiskey (typically from Heaven Hill) and bottle it under various labels. Their bottling operation is located in the former Willett Distillery. Retailed for $35 in its time.
This is supposed to be a blend of different vintages averaging around 8 yrs old. Doesn't have the character of the cask-designated releases, but quite enjoyable in its own right. Toasted oak with hints of dark chocolate and vanilla. A great introduction to Black Maple Hill, and quite a deal at around $35.
Very accessible and agreeable, rather sweet with a notable but balanced amount of wood influence. Novice and advanced bourbon drinkers alike should enjoy this one, and I would kind of qualify it as a more-sophisticated type of "party whiskey." B/B+ (Circa 2008)
Medium gold/amber color. The nose has very sweet corn and a nice layer of vanilla. The palate is rich and smooth with some oak, spice and vanila. A nice finish with a good lingering draw. Overall, very balanced (and a great value). [3/6/12]
