Dry and oaked malt initially; raisins and red cherry. Mildly sweet with vanilla caramel and cocoa in middle. This is nicer with less sweetness (Mac red fruit) and more wood influenced, but nothing mouth-watering. Dry all-spice in finish that doesn't last too long. Mid-palate is great but the finish is just flat and I don't get the "rare cask" aspect to this. There should be more oooomph to it to deserve the name, but it's just another overpriced NAS...  [B/B-]

N: well, it doesn't deviate much from the other mac releases.  Little bit of wood finish.  Meh

P: blends well into every averagey macallan ever.  Hint of honey, wood plank, cheerios and sulpher.  Either they meant to stray from the old flavor that made Macallan famous, or they just don't have the casks to do it anymore.

Glass Review: Holy cow this is a beast.  It doesn't have the sophistication of a fancy lalique but it clearly says "ef off, I'm with someone important".  Its shoulders are cut in an intimidating way and its weight makes it a lethal weapon.  I'd rate this as more dangerous than a frying pan but less than a falling piano. B+ in the arms category.
