Cask# 321/2008   Sherry Cask    3/7/2008-3/9/2012

As of 4/14, this is one of only a few (might even be just two) Kilchoman sherried single casks to be labled under the "100%" Islay label too (according to Kilchoman).

June 2013

N: Red hots meet red oak.
P: Lacquer and more red hots. A punchy sweet and sour finish. Unique and fun. Perhaps my fave from Kilchoman thus far.

December 2013

n: butterscotch and cinnamon

p: butterscotch, caramel, cherries.  Basically the top of a banana split with red hot sprinkled on it.  Finish goes hot cinnamon for a festive finish.  One of the best Kilchomans in their long, storied history.    B+/A-

Malted oats, dry hay, chewed cinnamon gum, and Tarmac. Hints of melted twizzler. Good BBQ and smoky peat here. The nose is balanced nicely. Sweet peat on the palate. A tad thin and astringent but overall very tasty and satisfying. Red hots, pepper spice and some nutmeg. Finishes with smoky brine menthol and wax. B+/B

Light brown-orange color. The nose is wonderful - like a sherried candy, cherry lollipop, hints of peat appear from the background over time and cinnamon. With air and time the smoke really starts to come out. The palate lends itself a little more power with a nice mid-palate burst of peat. The sherry is still there, but a little more subdued. Also some pepper. The finish is excellent and drags on. Easily one of the best younger Islay whiskys I have had. [2/27/13 - A-] [3/28/14 retaste - B+/A-]

n: sherry and smoke, smells of burnt wood and tar, but strong full body sherry fruits throughout. Some phenols and white pepper.

t: pungent and smokey, very much into the burnt leather and smoked sea salt. Red raisins and caramel. Finish is burnt red berries sprinkled lightly with salt.
