Strangely very little sherry here, if any. More on the metallic mineral water side. Dilute sweet tea and preserved citrus peel. Still strange on the palate. Sour Bosc pear rind, kiwi skin and flat sparkling mineral water. Finishes withe the bitterness of white tea.
Light golden color. Sweet and balanced nose. Fruity (banana, a little raisin) and floral on my tongue. Shorty and whispery finish. Eminently drinkable. I've always been in the minority of really liking this release over the 1970 farclas released by K&L around the same time (although, admittedly, that one is good too). I always go back for this one. n: light nose; honey and floral, italian mineral water.
t: vanilla and popcorn butter. Green banana, black tea, and gentle sweet oak influence for the middle. This is very unusual for a 'farclas but interesting because you can experience the aged distillate w/o a heavy sherry presence. [B-, but I gave this a bump up due to it's uniqueness; if you're a hardcore Glenfarclas fan, this is very fun to try.]
Peaches in the nose, interesting. Palate is lighter and nice, but I'd never guess it was Glenfarclas. Gentle finish with nutmeg. Nothing crazy here, but it's definitely a nice whiskey I'd be happy to drink any day.
