I like this place. Claiming to be "LA's first gastropub" and "the quintessential New York Joint," the Bowery is a small and semi-cozy place to hang for a meal and a few drinks. The food is good -- though perhaps not at the level of excellence they seem to be aiming for -- the service exceptional and amicable, and the alcohol selection quite good. Whiskey-wise, there are almost 30 single malts to choose from, including BenRiach, Springbank, and Clynelish (how often do you see those in a bar?). They could've used a couple independents and/or single-cask rarities for us whiskey geeks, but hey, I get it that that stuff doesn't really move. Bonus points for the Old Potrero and Hirsch 22yr Rye, among other good choices. Whisky prices here are very reasonable. I'll be back!
