The distillers explain: "This 25 year old Single Highland Malt Whisky was first bottled in 1993 for the USA. Some of the original stock was sold to the USA... the remainder was 'lost' for 10 years. Our vast warehouses contain huge volumes of many different spirits, and these few cases were somehow overlooked." So, they put them in new tubes (leaving the original bottles as-is) and sold 'em. That means there was only one bottling of this, but two staggered releases of the same stuff 10 years apart.
N: Rich sherry, mentholyptus, spice, and a little rubber. P: Whoa. Now that's different. Very organic dry spice balances the massive sherry sweetness. This is stellar stuff. F: Long, brown sugar, burnt toffee.

Nose of apples and apple cider, plums and dried fruits. Sherry. Palate is very "purple." And very drinkable for something that tastes so sherried... it's rich without being overdone, with flowery incense, spice, dried fruits, and toffee. Finish really lasts, with floral stuff continuing to emerge (roses, violets... not that I eat violets, but as I imagine the flavor to be) cloves, and oak. Excellent sherried whisky that packs a lot of great flavor for 43%.
Cinnamon, peppermint, menthol, light oak and many sweet tones under. The palate is powerful, little bitter quality, but more tawny port, currants, dark cherry candy. Finish is long and mouth coatingly rich. Like the scotch version of mulled wine, perfect for the holidays. Barely an A-, but perhaps best of the Glendronachs.
Blind and I had been wanting to try this for a long time. Tried again after the blind round when I knew what it was to be sure I got this right. There has been a lot of talk about this one and prices are fairly high ($380 at my local). The nose says spirit and spices with loads of deep sherry but also some perfumes that you don’t get in the newer expressions. Cough syrup and some raisins in the background. The palate is all of the above with something like oily cherries. The mouth-feel was very silky oily at the same time. Finish was medium length and seemed much longer than any Glendronach I have had. I liked this a lot but the price tag just puts it out of the proper category for me. Solid B+
Nose: Perhaps cinnamon, rubber, mulling spices, and old wood.
Palate: A tangy thick and oild sherry bomb. Leans even a bit toward cough syrup. The sweet deliciousness loses its sweetness in the finish, leaving a bit of a bitter syrup and stays forever. Almost an A-.

After another bottle, this is an easy A-. Opens beautifully.
WOW! Sweet sherry, young cherries and strawberries. Leather and tobacco make up a good part of the nose. Gets more minty on the palate with just the right amount of sweetness. Sticky on the palate with sweet fruits and raisins.
