Nose is earthy, smoky, damp and dank, with Band Aids and a musty quality that makes it smell Ardbeggy. The palate verifies this as a great peaty whisky, quite sweet, with mild grasses and toffee. Not as much complexity as I expected given the nose, though. Finish is lengthy. Overall this is a solid whisky, and it strikes me more like an Ardbeg than a Bowmore, very Beist-y. B/B+
