Screaming sherry in the nose, with cumin, cloves, ketchup, and wisps of worcestershire sauce. The palate -- holy sh*t. It's strong and big! And basically what the nose advertises, yummy, yet the very spicy aspects keep this a challenging single malt. Finish is long. There's slightly too much boozyness in the palate -- almost like someone poured a thimble of grain alcohol into my glass -- and without that this would be stellar. But it's still great whisky! Stuff like this usually costs a lot more, and I think it's a good buy even upwards of $100. B+/A-
This is classic Glendronach and some really great heavy sherry cask! And finally a cask strength Glendronach! This seems to have fixed the fleeting finish problem as well as it stayed with me for much longer than usual. Love this and I will buy a couple of bottles. SOmething more in this as well....like strawberry puree...Yummy.
Nose: Overwhelming. I've never had to keep my nose so far. Cherried old wood.
Palate: Sherry MONSTER. This is like a more complex Glendronach Revival, still sherry bombing but a soft pine woodiness runs with the sherry toward the finish. More full than overwhelming. Bravo
