Woah, this is an interesting one. Nose of definite cinnamon, with some spiritous stuff... odd. Reminds me of the smell of Old Potrero Rye. On my first sip, I wrote "Neato!" There's all sorts of uniqe spice stuff in here, with moderate sweetness. Given the ABV, the heat is as expected. Cinnamon, rye (i.e. rye whisky), cumin, paprika, and vanilla cake. Finish continues all of the above at length. This is really interesting and truly tasty stuff, like a cross between a 100% rye, Glenfiddich, and some of the American single malts. There's rough patches for certain, but this is definitely worth a long taste.
This was very interesting....first impression was M&Ms with some sulphur and dusty earthy dryness. Did not taste like malt barley though....too nutty. But it was certainly interesting. B/B- I go with the B for the unusual character but only for that.
N: Peppery, but like sweet red peppers, with some vinegar and a lot of tobacco. P: Spice and pepper rise above an otherwise blank palate, quite drying. F: More spice and some green wood. Has some off notes but overall not bad. I'd be interested in knowing what kind of barrel was used. (Their site says they use 50 and 100 L barrels, which are pretty small, but doesn't indicate the wood type or previous contents).
