Okay, I've drank enough 1608 now to feel confident rendering this opinion: whah? It's good stuff, don't get me wrong -- I love the nose, very malty, full of toffee and caramel, and dried apples. And the malt explosion on the palate (as in, malted milk galore) is something I love. Yet this is quite like the 16-year (which I love)... with much more heat than should be present for 46%. It's especially notable in the medium-length finish. I'm not sure I quite get what the distillers were going for here. It's decent, but I'd say get the 16 instead. And if you're gonna spend around this much money, spend a little more on some Midleton's. I'm not meaning to trash the 1608, I'm just saying there are better alternatives. B/B-
Very light and crisp with vanillas. Very spirity and grainy. I can almost always find something better to drink but if this was the only option, I would not protest....too much.
