Ooooooh that's good sherry. Starts like a peppery cherry lollipop with a perfect sweetness. The palate is thick and slippery with a chewy finish you can't help up continue to try swishing it around long after its gone. Yeah, one dimension, but why suck at 3 dimensions when you can rock just one instead.
I bought this in an auction confusing it with the 12 doublewood that I hadn't had. This was going to be my new everyday dram, but alas it's a strange find from the 80s being sold for the top dollar it's worth.
What's that I smell? Sherry, sherry, sherry, and some whisky. The palate is rich sherry, of course, but in a way that's unique -- not overly-rich, yet still "full," with very floral qualities. Finish continues the theme at length... and oh, is there good stuff to continue. Tastes more mature than 12 years. This is truly good whisky.
This defines what a good sherry whisky can be. Light and on the fruity side under the sherry sweetness. But plenty of flavor. Tastes like something older. Very smooth and a great finish.
That's a hell of a big bold 12 year sherry bomb, real quality sweet sherry, seems like first fill (although probably isn't). Sherry monster for sure. Nose is figgy and some chocolate comes through in the finish.
