N: Medicinal sherry with a nostril clearing effect like Vicks Vapo Rub, cinnamon. P: Big dry sherry, reminiscent of the Glen Elgin 16 from The Bottlers, but with the volume turned down. F: Tobacco and hot cinnamon candy.
Well, my initial impression was just "Cask-strength sherried whisky, and good!" 'Cause that's what it is. Lengthy finish. BE mentioned Red Hots (the candy) and he's right. Adding a good amount of water makes this a really rich and drinkable sherried treat, bringing out toffee and caramel and other spices. Just add water and enjoy! B+/A-
Very sweet, sharp, cinammon nose. A taste of hot/spicy cinammon - someone made the "red hots" candy comparison and that's very accurate. Long, spicy finish. This was really interesting - not something I'd drink all the time, but I would certainly enjoy having it in the bar, and it is so distinctive that it is worth seeking out to try.
Nose: Sweet sherry/wine notes, warm and spicy. Palate: Initially very sweet dessert wine flavors, followed by oak and vanilla extract. Nice, chewy mouthfeel that stays with you into a sherried finish. A well balanced sherry malt. Good stuff. B+/A-
