Spicy and woody for sure, rather sharp and peppery (as in red peppers, serrano, etc) with a kick. I'm not exactly sure what the finish has done here, but it seems to have impacted the brand of spice and contributed to a rounder palate. Medium sweet. I definitely like this, but it's a bit of an oddball and I'm not sure when/how I'd most want to drink it... maybe it's time I tried some single malt scotch with Mexican food!
Retaste: Gets better as the bottle drains. Fairly sweet, deep fruit and unusual spice festival. B/B+
N: Funky nose, figs and apricots, strong and pungent fruit. P: Hmmm! Redonkulously sweet. Maybe too sweet? F: A little smoke powers through the fruit at the end. And the sweetness subsides just enough. Bizarre and quite good.
