N: Pastry with powdered sugar, white dessert wine. P: Light peat and sweet wine, bready. F: Bubble gummy, a little grassy, a powdery sweetness. My first Teaninich and I'm pleasantly surprised.
Nose is floral, bright fruit, and maybe some chocolate. Palate is yummy! Sweet richness mixed with a bittersweet, unusual chocolately flavor (like the chocolate that used to come in those kids' toy sets where you would melt it into little monster/lizard/animal molds.... what do you mean you have no idea what I'm talking about?) Mild sherry in the background, and maybe slight wisps of smoke. A couple drops of water add dimension, but more water than that starts to detract. I really like this one, it's rather complex and super-tasty without being overwhelming (and without extensive sherry or smoke - in fact I don't taste much of either). Like it. Approved!
Caramel, buttery nose. On the palate, a strange combination of bitter toffee, pine, a bit thin but a long finish. Slight medicinal quality. Not bad, not great.
The nose reminds of of those dry candies that crumble in your mouth because they are compressed powder. You know, the candy your grandmother used to keep in the fancy jar that you used to eat as a kid when you visited because there was nothing better lying around. That stuff.
The palate is a bit to thin and watery but the taste is warm and inviting and faintly reminds me of saltwater taffy. I can see myself drinking a lot of this. I can get it at Wal-mart, right?
