N; Apricots, smoke, quite rich, a hint of irish whisky synthetic grape. P: Weird astringent woodiness, tobacco, but balanced with some chocolate sweetness. F: Long but slightly bitter. I'm on the fence somewhat on this one, its interesting and has a lot going on, individually the flavors are just OK, but it comes together nicely. Worth trying, would order one at a bar, but probably wouldn't invest in a whole bottle.
Caramel in the nose, fruity, vanilla, and green tones -- maybe cut grass. Palate is mild and sweet, with round "red" fruit tones. Finish is short, with some cherries. An easy and agreeable whisky, while managing a fuller-feeling-and-tasting palate.
Not much better than the 12 year and it seems to me that with everything going on here that it would be better.....but it is just a bunch of soft flavors from an attempt to fix it me thinks....Nice try and not horrible but not really good either.
n: burnt caramel and wet brown sugar on angelfood cake. Red wine vinegar and light red berry jam.
t: thin and dry wood with dry cloves, pears, and light fruits from the sherry cask influence. Light balsamic reduction poured over figs. Very quick to the light but bitter wood finish.
nose > taste.
current revised packaging and new bottle shape tasted.
