Unveiled in late 2015, this is a limited edition expression from Deanston distillery in the Highlands. Matured for 20+ years in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at cask strength.
n: caramel taffy, warmed margarine, car vinyl. Graham crackers (campfire s'mores) and burnt cream - quite unique. Honey drizzled on dates with a hint of snuffed out match .
t: initial is yellow cherry, dried tropical fruit (pineapple and papaya), and honeysuckle. Earthy with gingerbread cookie and a note of rubber (took me a while to figure it out - threw me off). Nice oak and golden raisin in the long finish.
Interesting but weird - would be a polarizing whisky to talk about. The sherry cask is quite subdued for its age.
