John Campbell blended Laphroaig stored in a variety of barrels ranging from first fill bourbon to quarter casks and Oloroso hogsheads. Some of the whisky was distilled in 1993.
n: dark caramel, smoked meat (speck), spiced fruit cake, dense with molasses and rum. Medicinal with notes of iodine and fresh gauze.
t: more earthy smoke, and most of the elements from the smell. It has apricots and dried strawberry all placed in a greasy smoker. Middle has some of the dark chocolate and vanilla oak flavours. Even though the age range is wide, this isn't disjointed. The finish goes back to being phenolic and martime. Lasts for a very long time. This is a tasty release. [B+/A-]
