n: peat smoke, fresh grass, strong dose of wet ash and driftwood.
t: hearty full body and flavor of medicinal/phenolic malt and burnt butter. Smokey heather with a whole lot of wood influence, then the brine & salt takes over. Ginger candy, white pepper, and citrus wax with youthful sweetness balanced with bold oak. Long finish is smoldering driftwood. One of the best Laphroaigs available (especially with the price as a factor).
side-by-side with the newest release vs previous one:
new release seems to have a little more sherry in the mix. Very similar profiles but leaning towards the new with a bit more fruit to balance the smoke and brine.
