12 Sherry butts with vintages varying from 1989 to 1992, 11 American oak hogsheads filled in 1989 and 8 refill American oak butts from 1992 and 1993. These were married for several months.
n: rich red berry marmelade and spiced chocolate. Very fruit forward with vanilla oak, peach, and dried orange. Butterscotch and dark cherry. Lemon cake with white sugar frosting.
t: initially dark vanilla and creamy caramel. Red berry marmelade, candied walnuts (dry husks) and brown sugar notes in middle. Overall this is a nice whisky, but not with the complexity I expected. The red fruit and malty flavours are there, but I taste mostly black raisin and honey. Vanilla caramel and wood dust in the middle. Finish is dense and long with toffee cake and toasted oak. Nose is best aspect. [B+/B]
