Miyagikyo distillery, formerly Sendai and Sakunami, was founded in 1969 as Nikka’s second distillery (after Yoichi on Hokkaido). Miyagikyo was the brainchild of Masataka Taketsuru.
Light sour citrus (yuzu), black raisin, toffee, dried apple rings, and caramel. "Grainy" youth, light malt, vanilla caramel in middle. Thin floral, waxed dried pineapple, earthy with an alcohol bite. Dried apricot, marshmallow in the delicate finish. [C+/C]
