A vatting of sherry and bourbon casks filled between 2005 and 2012 from cask number 01/2005 (the first cask ever filled at Kilchoman). Total of 3,000 bottles at cask strength.
n: wax, sea air, and parchment paper. Soft edges of smoke and vanilla bean. Wet heather and moss.
t: smoke and char - quite different from the sweet impression from the nose. Middle is nice and oaky with even more hearty smoke and controlled phenols. Finish is driftwood campfire and salty. Nice whisky that checks all the boxes for a peated scotch that is intense without any sharp edges. Barley sugar and smoked grapefruit finish. [B+/B]
