The center stage is shared by fruity flavors as much as the smoke, and the smoke is a subtle-yet-there delicious type (as compared to the more in-your-face of Laphroaig or Ardbeg). My main criticism would be that it's a bit hot for 18 years and 43%. But it's priced about right, and an excellent go-to for when you want some peat, but not overwhelmingly so. Delicious.
N: Peat. Very nice peat, with some purple smells. P: Smoky sugar, with a blankness in the mid palate, the heat seems to mask the flavor. F: Dry and somewhat short but then a final floral note emerges.
n: Brine, molasses, and cheap plastic toy (new beach ball?)
p: grassy and earthy. Makes me think less of smoke and more of a wet Scottish marsh. Decaying peaches, especially with the hint of sugar. Nice finish that continues as more of the same. Solid.
