This is definitely one for Islayphiles. Certainly smokey, definitely some medicinal aspects, sweet, and quite big. The long finish continues waves of the previous with some spice mixed in (the label mentions that the finish is "smokily mentholated" and if you search for it, there is sort of a menthol/minty thing.). There's some fire to this, 50/50 warming vs. burning, and water helps but diminishes the best flavors. In some ways, this has noticable flavor/body similarities to the worshipful Lagavulin 21 (of course the Lag blows this away in depth and complexity and smoothness, but nevertheless this has noticeable shades of it). All-in-all a nice little indie Laphroaig to have on your shelf. B/B+
