The nose has candy sweetness. The palate is dense and complex with dark chocolate (not sweet) and oak. Water improves it even more, bringing out polished wood and musty old libraries. The finish is woody with just a slight wine-like inflection.
This is fantastic stuff. I would guess something out of the Bernheim Distillery during the period in the '90s when they were making wheated whiskey for the Stitzel-Weller brands.
