15 year old Toasted Oak expression from eight different bourbon barrels, an experiment with four different levels of char and toast, all vatted to finish in four hogsheads. Non-chill filtered and naturally colored. Deanston is now the only distillery in Scotland to be self-sufficient in electricity, with power generated by an on-site hydro-energy facility.
n: vanilla cream and glazed donut. Golden waffles with powdered sugar and margarine.
t: cinnamon spice, toffee, and more powdered sugar glaze. Very vanilla oak and sweet. Lavender and oka move in to offset the initial sugar glaze beginning.
Not very complex but does the light, delicious, and sweet quite well. Comparable to a really good, full-flavoured lowland. Enjoyable, but vanilla sugar whisky isn't my vice.
This is very sweet. Powdered sugar, charred caramel and syrup. Sweet armangac fruit notes as well. Dense on the palate with brown sugar, toasted almonds, cashew, and green apple skin. Cookie dough emerges mid palate. Honey, bees wax and hints of salt on the medium finish.
