Released in 2012, it was drawn from 3x 1996 vintage Sherry butts, 6x 1996 bourbon barrels, 2x 1997 Sherry butts, 8x 1998 Sherry hogsheads and 5x peated 2006 bourbon barrels. 6660 bottles were brought forth.
p: Nice mouthfeel initially with sort of a 4 grain bread flavor. Raw wood. Tangy and punchy (sorry). Definitely a lively malt that may require a bit of water taming.
With water. Meh. Doesn't really bring out the flavors.
t: sweet + classic fruit, follows the nose but very hard to taste the peat aspects - it's more like damp earth and charred wood. Finish is a tad bitter with dry oak and strong notes of white pepper with some gentle phenols. Overall it's fragmented and doesn't do it for me. [whiskey B-, packaging A-/A]
