Nose of dried fruits, sweet, peat, oceanic. Palate is sweet and nice, sort of a rasiny thing with pepper and smoke. Not a really heavy kind of smoke. The sweetness gets heavy-handed and basically becomes too much. Odd balance.
n: Black grapes, spice, bread dough, and a hint of smoked pickle brine. Predominately port nose with some balsamic vinegar.
t: Initial is the overly strong port influence of blanched red berries and some tropical fruit. Mid-pallate gives you the tease of what Talisker should be like with the sweet smoke, leather, and salt. Finish is where is falls apart - overripe fruit, black pepper from a plastic shaker in Denny's, and some sour rag.
Not a good cask selection for Talisker. I love Talisker, I do, but this doesn't work and is out of balance and stale. [C/C+ ]
Orange-red hue. Very bland and simple. Nothing special on the nose. The most un-like Talisker Talisker I have ever had. Ugh. The port (I think) has taken away whatever Talisker qualities were there. Very dissapointing. [8/8/14]
