p: Clearly not a typical Laphraoig but clearly a Laphroaig. There's a sweet berry syrup followed by pepper and oats. The peat overshadows the px after a second, so you can thank Pedro and kiss him goodbye. The finish is nice if you like the iodine profile.
n: smoke, burning clover, cinnamon red hots in the ocean. Strawberry jello scalding in the pan. Heavy on the ripe red fruits and sweet. The sherry influence is really prominent.
t: At first the red fruits and the whisky tumble, with the smoke and seabrine winning out midway. It does have a strong phenolic middle (of bandages and iodine) that fits the typical brand profile. The finish is fruity and sweet but not too long; like mixed berry jam with driftwood ash at the end. It's a Laphroaig, but a different shade and I like it. [B+/B]
