N: Almost chalky at first. Malt and sugar. A little hay, some barley, maybe even a faint touch of mushroom. Going subjective and metaphor heavy, it makes me think of stew and fresh bread while corn is being harvested. There's a low-level meatiness to this that's unexpected behind the sharper notes.
P: Thick mouthfeel to start. Has a slightly butyric, pukey note at first but it fades. Moderate malty sweetness, a little white pepper. A little ripe apple and gentle pepper.
F: Leads with white pepper, a little touch of dried fruit and then orange lavors. Maltiness brings up the rear but again, there's something off. Kind of a weird wood-meets-root-veggies note with a dash of celery.
There's something about the nose that's kind of viscerally appealing to me. Unfortunately the palate and finish have off notes that confuse the issue.
