A pleasant nose with honey covered peaches citrus fruit. But I would get some flashes of stale sherry. A bit thin on the palate with initial citrus tanginess. Gets a bit toasty/ bready in the mid-palate. There's a winey-like component in here as well (white wine). The wood emerges toward the finish with a hint of salt.
This wasn't great and it wasn't bad. The word "safe" popped up several times as I took the time to nose and taste this. It's nice to drink and unobejectionable. I was not suprised to find out this was a Balvenie as I feel most of their stuff is very easy drinking without the "aha" moments. Tun 1401 Batch 3 is the exception.
More intense flavor profile and more cohesive with nice flavour of toffee and red apple (compared to 12 yr). Butterscotch wood, green apple skins, less nutty. Better finish over the 12 year also. solid B
