Nose of varnish, paint thinner, corn, rich caramel, apples, all in a nearly-strong way which really grows on me.
Good stuff on the palate, not really everything the nose implied, but it's primarily got that "old bourbon" quality of painty stuff that I just love. I really don't know if that's from the style/methods of the time, or from a type of Old Bottle Effect. I'm guessing both. Finishes hot for a moment but evens out. B/B+
Wood varnish and things you'd smell in a lumber yard. Theres caramel sweetness here with a bit of fruitiness too. The palate is a bit more straight foward with lots of spicy herbal wood. It's a bit thin on the palate and dries out toward the finish. Very good overall as it has a sweet almost nutty component that makes you want to go back for more. B/B+
