Very mild nose with floral stuff, like the way some fancy bath products smell. Some peach. Toast. Palate is a sort of nondescript spice, a little powdered sugar in the background. Finish approaches bitter with white pepper.
Oh okay, it's growing on me, a little hidden complexity here... no wait, still not doing it, nevermind.
Clynelish is a malt I don't always "get" as much as some of the other guys here. There are characteristics to it that others love which I either don't taste, or I just don't love.
Nice floral qualities along with tangy citrus and spicy pepper. The maltiness hangs out in the background with notes of buttered toast. Tropical fruits come to mind because the tangy citrus is very bright and green on the palate. The finish is lasting with a fair bit of wax, cloves and bitter greens.
There is no murkiness in this. Overall I think this is very clean, crisp and concise.
