Higher strength, no chill filtration, and new packaging introduced late 2011. No word yet on US availability, though the old Tobermory 10 is still around.
A sharper nose than its predecessor (note increased ABV), very malty and very much smelling like an improved version of the old 10 year. Much of the fartyness has been eliminated. Cashews are back for sure.
Palate is bigger and makes more of a statement, though still restrained, slightly sweeter with more depth, and altogether better. If this was your thing before, you're really gonna like it now I'd think.
It's an improvement but still not out of the C's, average and enjoyable and in no way bad whisky. The sort of thing I'd be happy to find being served on a plane.
n: Strong but not in a good way. Bad grappa and new make.
p: Blendy but with a bite. It definitely exerts itself, but it's hard to put a flavor on it. Light almond, maybe. Mostly "alcohol" really. Nice mouthfeel though.
