This is a mystery bottle. The only similar private bottlings we've seen that have the same label say on the label who the bottling was for. This one is blank.
The nose on this is very malty with some sweet notes and some ocean air. The palate starts sweet and syrupy which yields only slightly to an underlying maltiness that continues into the finish where there is maybe the slightest trace of smoke. Tastes like a bourbon cask, and not very Springbanky, though pretty good to drink.
N: An interesting mix of fruitiness and light peat initially. Some maltiness, a little white pepper and slight mustiness. A little canned pear, some light tarriness, and some vanilla.
P: Thick mouthfeel, faintly musty; earthy, with a little bit of peat. Nice heat; malty; some white pepper. A little faint hint of vanilla.
F: Warm initially, receding, leaving malt and plenty of pepper with a bit of vanilla. Light hints of waxy apples.
There are elements to this that seem like a bourbon cask but there's not a lot to go on. Enjoyable though and a fun oddity.
