Nose is light and sweet, peat. Taste of light oak/vanilla. Finish is long and warm. Overall there's nothing overwhelming, but this is well-balanced and light. Peaty and fruity. Surprised to find out what this was.
N: Peat and pepper P: Peat, smoke, and lemon F: Lemon sugar, oily. Not much of a peat monster in my opinion. I've come to expect a bit more from Compass Box.
The use of the word "Monster" in the name implies something that this is not. I really expected this to hit me with peat and when it didn't, it lost some respect.
n: deep peat heavy on the damp earth and vegetation side. Wet grassy smoke with some maritime hints. Trail mix with dried dark fruits.
t: charred cardboard, driftwood, and salty caramels. Leather char and dry driftwood. Doughy malt and smokey in a long, dank earth finish. [B-/B; 2014 version is a blend of Ardmore, Laphroaig, and Ledaig]
n: damp, earthy peat with oak char, maritime, sardines in a can. Some fruit, petroleum, and sea brine.
t: citrus wax, oak char, and overripe red berries. Burnt banana bread, and cherries in the controlled smoky finish. [B, 2015 version]
