Though this term isn't quite correct, it's always the thing that comes to mind with a nose like this: farty. It's the same thing that turns me away from many recent Glenrotheses (note that many enjoy those, so...). Also mixed nuts, caramel, fudge, vanilla bean, and a big aspect of oaky used wine barrels, like a wine cave.
Palate is interesting, but not super-delicious. General mild oak, a little nice sweetness, and mild spice. A momentary velvety mouthfeel gives way to a long, spicier, and very lightly smokey finish. No magic here, but it's still decent whisky worth trying.
