Nose: Lovely, rich, with huge wood, maple syrup and then some umami, soy sauce. Palate: Pine/Fir, just super woody making it a bit bitter. Finish: Bitter woodiness.
N: Dry, closed off initially with an almost sour note. Reveals corn after a moment as well as wood. Even balance, lightly earthy clay-like smell, slightly moist, grainy, but tame given the strength. Light toffee and some furniture polish.
P: Warming, light mouthfeel but gets creamier. Clay note re-emerges, corn and toffeee. A little molasses and maple syrup and a bit of leather. Gets pretty warm.
F: Warm, dry wood, a little musty with some overripe aple and plum as well as grai.
This is a bit over-oaked but it was still in my "good" range. Nice and complex, pretty solid if you're willing to put this on the rocks as well.
