This is outstanding whisky! Truckloads of flavor, and though the proof is high, I shared this with some whisky-newcomers who found it quite palatable neat. The nose is toffee-caramel, with mixed fruits. Palate is huge cinnamon-clove spices, raisins and some dried cherries, vanilla beans, moderately sweet for 31 years. A chocolate aspect amplifies in the lengthy finish, and though this is a bourbon barrel there are some sherry-like aspects. The oak is present throughout in a great and balanced way that nicely plays off the spices. Overall, it's excellent stuff, a delicious vanilla spice cake treat. I know this will be a bottle I'll regret not buying more of... I don't even know why I'm publishing this review with only 112 bottles to go around -- minus the two I've helped drain! A-/A
I second the props for this whisky, really tasty stuff. Generally nutty / spicy and balanced with a perfect confectionary sweetness, it's very much like drinking a dessert. Even novice whisky drinkers seemed like this one quite a bit, so if you're looking to get you girlfriend into whisky, then have her try this...$240 a bottle...whisky...wait, scratch that.
