Nose: Light peat with that Talisker richenss. Palate: Sweet, peat, sherry, then waves of flavor. A nice oily mouthfeel. The finish gives a nice balance of sherry and peat. B+/A-
N: Purple smells. P: Very delicate initially, gingery peat with candied fruit, evaporative. Nectary. F: The peat gets bigger in the finish, wisp of chocolate, very drinkable for 57%.
Y'know, palates are a fickle thing -- so who are these assholes assigning ratings to whiskey, when their preferences can shift unexpectedly? Especially that asshole who changed his mind and upgraded this delicious malt from a B to a B+/A-.
-- Old Notes -- I like it, but these older Talisker expressions never quite do it for me... I'm not sure why. Lacks complexities I find in younger expressions. Salty ocean stuff with mild smoke. B
