Nose is creamy and fruity and very pleasant. Taste is clean and warm with sweet fruits (tropical) with pears and sugary cream (1/2&half). Finish is warming and medium to medium-long with some nice oak resin at the end.
Overall a well balanced malt with some spicey notes hidden in the background. Bring those forward and this might hit an A-. Re-taste with water and not much of a change.
***SIDE NOTE*** This was one of the collector battle malts and I turned in my grades along with my notes for tally. When I awoke the next morning (after passing out in the theater - I think I poured a bit too generously) and gathered my stuff, I noted an addition to my notes. Five of the six bottles had comments that were...well...less than flattering. THIS WAS THE BOTTLE WITH NO ADDITIONAL NOTES!
One of two things occurred.....Either my drunken self wrote these comments without memory and in a handwriting that is less similar to mine than any drunken handwriting I have created before.....OR someone added them to my notes.....several attendees have adamantly denied responsibility and/or pointed the finger at others.....a drunken handwriting test shall be given following the next session to feret out the true vandal. ;-}
N: Initially restrained, opens up to reveal some peaches. P: Quite the fruit bomb with a powdery mouth feel. F: Drys out a bit with the peaches lingering and some oak finishing things off. An interesting profile, yet another great Sig dumpy.
