Nose: Caramel candies, roses, Bourbony goodness, very nice nose.
Palate: The subtlety of the nose is lost in the palate, which is a bit hot for the abv. The flavors are fairly indistinct, typical bourbon flavors, some oak, less sweet than you might imagine and a bit bitter actually.
The finish is nice with some of the herbaceous flavors returning.
The nose and finish are nice, but the palate is a bit of a let down.
N: Big sharp rye, more resinous than floral, with some maple syrup and oak tannins. And some orange candy notes set up expectations of sweetness. P: Floral notes hit first, but followed through with that sweetness tipped off by the nose... F: ...which continues to build into the finish. Lingering taste of a Cinnabun. Some tasty spice comes back on the exhale too. A real nice bourbon, great balance of rye spice and sweetness.
