Here's one of those "it's everywhere" bottlings that I had never tasted before -- I mean honestly, is it a malt that's at the top of your want-to-taste list? But, in all fairness, that's probably not a fair judgement for us to make without having tried it. Right? Well, uh, maybe not. I'm here to tell you that my (and likely your) instincts are pretty much correct, though this isn't bad whisky. Nose has an astringent overtone to it, with vanilla, fruity, and floral traces. Palate is light and caramely, with light fruits and floral scents, rather sugary, malty. A simple and lighter whisky altogether. Finish is where this really falters, it dries out and falls apart into some alcoholy stuff. Very little going on here, and that finish tends to push me away. But drinkable and "fine." C/C+
N: Oak and tobacco, lightly floral. P: Dry and woody. F: Gets kinda weird and estery. Really? I guess this probably appeals more to blend drinkers than to single malt enthusiasts.
