N: Quite floral, with lavender notes, and lots of lemon. P: Lighter in peat than many PE's, delicate, dry, and evaporative. I really love this profile, it's been a while since I've found one like this. F: Floral and refreshing.
Nose is a faint flowery spring air. Very faint. Palate is very salty with light lemon. Only by exhaling though the nose can you find the red hot profile found in most PEs. Seems a tad to strong on the alcohol. Disappointing for a PE. From a new cask... I may need to review this when it opens up.
Retaste 4/26/10 with "opened up" bottle. Nose is no longer faint. Other notes are still accurate.
Nose is sharp and tangy. Apricot, tangerine, with background wisps of smoke.
Palate is exciting and yummy. It hits pretty sweet and pretty fruity, as the nose advertised. Smoke is here but very restrained. I'm really enjoying this a lot. Long finish falls off a little in flavor enjoyment and gets more peppery. Still really tasty though and brings me back for more.
This is excellent, but not a kick in the crotch. And not quite par for the course with PE's of this age and era, flavor-wise. Just enough smoke to balance out the fruit, all in a relatively light way (for Islay). I really like it a whole lot.
