I'm not sure what the other guys tasted, but this one was a mix of port and bourbon casks, distilled Dec. 1995 and bottled April 2006.
Nose of red and black licorice, along with something tarry and questionable, an off-note. Palate is medium-to-rather sweet, with tangerines and orange peels, and a light spice dusting. Finish continues theme at length. This is enjoyable and sweet, tasty whisky, but that questionable note notches the experience down. It's like the flavor sends me back for more, but that ick-ish scent in the nose gives pause.
The nose on this is heavily sherried, not much else gets through. The palate starts with strong sherry with a hint of smoke, but then sort of falls apart. The finish is sherry with metallic notes. It's a pretty unexceptional sherried malt. Edit on reading the other reviews: Okay it was port I guess; I still say it tastes more like sherry.
